7 years and still going strong
This was my first ever heating pad for abdominal pain and back pain, I’m prompted to write this review because I recently purchased a new heating pad from a different brand because I wanted an upgrade and it was so awful that I had to come leave a review 7 years later for my OG heating pad that I’m currently still using!!!This heating pad is an absolute work horse and has really stood the test of time because I’ve not treated it gently. It’s very no frills but will do its job. The blue other cover is washable but not the nicest. It was three settings, and heats up very quickly. The high temperature actually gets hot and to a high temp. It doesn’t not have an auto timer.All in all it’s a good size, very flexible and a work horse, I think I’ll even try to look for a replacement with this same brand:company and hopefully get the same results!

Nice and basic
Simple basic design. Nothing fancy, not very big, Like that it doesn’t have an automatic timed shut off like so many of them do today. It doesn’t mention it anywhere, but I measured it at about 40 watts power draw. It can get pretty warm when confined and you have to be careful using these.Although it is not recommended for such, I have one on the low setting controlled by an external thermostat in a pet carrier, covered with a heavy folded towel. Sits in an unheated barn and my “barn cat” has somewhere to warm up when it gets cold. I have it set to come on at about 45 degrees air temeprature. I’ve taken some temperature readings and get about 85 degrees on the surface of the towel. I’m sure that could get hotter under other conditions and higher ambient temperatures. The cat seems to like it when it’s cold. Keep in mind, I’m not recommending this use as it wasn’t designed for such and with any unattended heating device there is always some potential for a fire. If you want to use one for a purpose other than what it was designed for, be aware that appropriate precautions should be taken.I have another that is quite nice for warming up cold feet just laid out on the carpet next to a chair. If I’ve been out in the cold for awhile and get pretty cold, sitting in the chair with my feet on it for about 15-20 minutes will warm me up quite nicely.It is smallish and very basic, but the price is right. I have an older version of this that I’ve had for many years and it still work fine. If you want something fancier, there’s all kinds of options out there but for the price this is very usable.

Not as big as it says it is.
To be honest about the three stars, I almost gave this two.The heating elements don’t go to the edge of the blue covering. In fact, about 1/3 of the heating pad (the part that heats up inside the blue covering) is just plastic. The heating “coils” only account for less than about 2/3 of the size of the thing.Measurements: Heating bag: 12″X14″ Heating coils (inside the heating bag): 9 1/4″ X 12″Now, I know it’s an inexpensive heating pad, but when it arrived, the coils had shifted around inside the bag, making it all wrinkled and impossible to use until the interior bag was pulled out and the coils put back in place (more or less) and flattened out again. Had the coils been the size of the heating bag, this wouldn’t have happened.Will it do the job? Yes, as long as you don’t expect the total area of the blue cover to warm up. They would have been far better served making the heating bag inside the same size as the heating coils and putting a smaller cover over it. 9.25″X12″ isn’t unacceptable for most people for a heating pad, I’d imagine. But this is NOT as much of a heating pad as it appears to be.For that deception I took one star away.It lost another star because it simply feels as cheap as it was and didn’t exceed my expectations. It’s a heating pad. It heats up (what area that does the actual heating). Had it been full size in heating and of normal quality, it would have gotten four stars. But as it is, it almost only got two.If the durability on it is as poor as it appears, it might end up with two. I’ve been known to go back and mark things differently as time goes on. So don’t expect as much as you think you’re getting and you might find it satisfactory. At its price, it’s not worth more than you paid for it, but you do get what you paid for. That means three stars.
