Gentle on the stomach with a not-do-pleasant aftertaste
I got this supplement for my wife, who has been struggling with perimenopause symptoms. It does have a not-so-pleasant aftertaste, no smell, but it’s gentle on her stomach. She loves that this product is dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and non-GMO. They seem like very high quality and I know this brand well from when I bought probiotics from them after a stomach surgery. They came highly recommended back then as well. My wife feels it has helped ease some of her discomfort so it’s been effective for her. She recommends it to any woman who wants to improve their vaginal health with an easy to use pill.

Excellent full coverage supplement for women
These probiotics are such a great all around supplement for not just urinary health but women’s health in general! The price is a great deal for the ingredients and I love that this supplement has full coverage for not just vaginal health but also gut health. They were easy to swallow for me and I did not have any weird aftertaste concern. I personally did not have any tummy upset with these but I think that someone with a really sensitive stomach may need a couple days to adjust to these supplements.

Good quality
This probiotic was definitely a bit of a head scratcher to research, as I do for everything before putting it in my body.The long and short of it is this:Professor Claudio De Simone came up with the “De Simone Formulation” which has many clinical trials and research backing the formula and partnered with a company to manufacture it under the name VSL3.After the professor ended the partnership, the manufacturer kept producing and selling VSL3, but changed the formula without changing the name, and linking it to the “De Simone Formulation” which it no longer was.This caused all sorts of legal battles, so that’s why it’s now sold as VSL4, while the original formula by professor De Simone is sold as Visbiome.As far as I can tell both are good quality and effective, though the newer formulation doesn’t have the clinical trials and research behind it as it was a modification made by the old manufacturer and not professor De Simone who still sells the original formulation.

This is a high quality probiotic that supports vaginal health. I struggle with odor here and there (not bc of hygiene!) and these seem to help. It also seems to help with digestion too since it is a probiotic.

Helpful Support While Trying to Conceive
I started using this probiotic after I had a UTI last month while trying to conceive, and I wanted extra support. It was easy to take daily and gentle on my stomach. Quality probiotic and prebiotic supplement
Good quality probiotic is very important for women’s health! It’s crucial to support healthy microbiota, as it affects overall health and well-being. I trust this supplement brand that is famous for other high quality vitamins, so I was happy to see they now have a vaginal health formula. The ingredients are pure and effective – folate vs just a folic acid. This is so important! As studies show, about 40% of people cannot absorb folic acid and should take folate in its place. I see that this supplement also has some well-studied and robust probiotic strains; some of them have been effective in fighting against depression and anxiety (Bifidobacterium strain).The packaging doesn’t say to keep it cold, but I keep my bottle in the fridge just in case. Please remember that it is not recommended to take your daily probiotic with a HOT drink/food, because the heat can destroy the good bacteria.Ladies, healthy gut is so important! Please take care of yourself and get a good quality probiotic.

Contains synthetic folic acid
The box for this VSL4® Vaginal Health Daily Probiotic states that it is made in Canada, and while I generally prefer supplements manufactured in the United States, I’m comfortable with Canadian‑made products because their regulations for natural health products tend to be very strict. I also trust VSL as a brand because I previously used their prescription probiotic under my doctor’s direction. I am disappointed to see that they don’t disclose whether this probiotic is third-party lab tested. Normally that would be a deal breaker for me, but I know this is a safe, reputable brand. This formula provides 10 billion CFUs from 5 probiotic strains: four lactobacillus strains and 1 bifidobacterium strain. They include a prebiotic to feed the beneficial bacteria in the gut. In addition to the pre and probiotics, the formula includes whole‑fruit cranberry extract, Riboflavin (B2), Folate (folic acid) and Vitamin D. I was willing to give them a break on not listing third-party lab testing, but I can’t overlook using synthetic folic acid instead of natural folate. Synthetic folic acid is harmful to me, so this supplement is not something I can take. It’s very disappointing to me that they would choose to include an inferior, synthetic vitamin in their formula. While this formula isn’t suitable for me, some people may be fine taking folic acid. At the current price of $34.95, the cost per serving is $1.17. The listing notes that it is free of GMOs, gluten, dairy, and soy, which is helpful for anyone avoiding common allergens.

Seems to be helping post-surgery
It’s always difficult to tell whether a supplement is doing what it’s purported to be doing, but I’ve been taking this about a week now and have no adverse affects and think I do feel somewhat better. I had gyno-urinary surgery about 6 weeks ago and needed a catheter and a course of antibiotics following surgery. I decided this, along with a cranberry + supplement, might help with getting my system back to normal. I’m having no itching or burning and I feel like my urinary urgency is getting much better. Is it just due to healing time since my surgery or from this supplement? Hard to tell for sure, but I think this supplement has made a positive difference. I rely on probiotics fairly regularly and this seems like a good one.
