Primrose Oil. Gamma-Linolenic acid, or GLA, and linoleic acid are essential, polyunsaturated fatty acids. They are used by most cells in the body to produce soothing prostaglandins (intracellular hormone-like messengers), which help maintain the balance of many functions in the body.
Suggested Use: 1 softgel 1 to 4 times daily.

I originally bought this to see if it helps my hypothyroid related hair loss. to my surprise, there are many more benefits. I am hypothyroid and have high prolactin levels. my prolactin levels were constantly going up by a few points each month. Since I was taking birth control pills, doctor didn’t put me on separate prolactin medication. He wanted to wait until the levels go up high and medication becomes necessary. Last month I stopped the birth control to end dumping hormones in my body. I totally hated taking them. Both my primary physician and endocrinologist scared me that things can out of whack when i stop the pill and I that I won’t get a period, lose hair, get acne and gain weight. I was terrified but made a decision that I won’t take any more hormones and stopped the pill. I started EPO about 15 days before I stopped the birth control pill. I went for a test 2 weeks ago and my prolactin levels dropped to normal and the TSH levels have become very low and more normal, I only need a low dose of synthroid now and I got my period in exactly 30 days. I have been on the Birth control pill for over 12 years, so not getting a period was my worst fear. I am extremely happy and best of all no side effects. As far as new hair growth, I noticed only a 10% difference. Some new hairs not much, but no acne which is good. I take 1 pill a day usually after dinner. I’ll continue taking these.

Recommend for combating hair loss.
I purchased this Evening Primrose oil from Source Naturals for thinning hair. When my hair started thinning (shudder) I did a lot of research about treatments. Biotin was always mentioned, but I also noted that evening primrose oil was usually mentioned as well. Most stated that the best treatment for hair loss is a several pronged approach. Rogaine 5% is supposed to be the gold standard in hair loss treatment. Using a clarifying shampoo and no conditioner keeps the scalp from having build-up. I also use ACV diluted in water. I pour it onto my scalp in the shower and leave on for about five minutes and then shampoo out. The vinegar rinse is repeated every three days to keep the scalp clean and kill the fungus and bacteria most of us have on our scalps. This is doing the job for me. My strands are thicker and my hair is healthy looking. I have new hair growth! Any treatment for hair loss takes time: usually 4 months. Be patient and let it take effect. By the way, I just ordered a second bottle of the evening primrose oil.

Highly recommend for PMS and perimenopause symptoms.
For years I used evening primrose oil to help manage PMS symptoms. Then, about three years ago, for reasons I can no longer remember, I stopped using it. Progressively over the last few years, my PMS has gotten worse. Now I’m approaching perimenopause and feel vaguely “hormonal” most of the time. So I decided to try adding evening primrose oil back into my morning supplements.I didn’t expect much, but I have to say that after a couple of weeks, I’m really surprised to report that I am feeling quite a bit better. This cycle I’ve experienced far fewer PMS symptoms and have felt better overall. I though that evening primrose oil wasn’t doing that much for me back then…I was wrong. Highly recommend.To be clear: I’m not a medical professional, and you should definitely check with your doctor before taking any supplements, as they can interfere with other medications and/or cause problems. Be careful with supplements, too, because it is a largely unregulated industry. Having said that, I have had great success with Source Naturals products, which seem to be high quality and safe.

I take Evening Primrose Oil to help control PMS symptoms and for my complexion. Thus far, this is the best value in Evening Primrose Oil capsules I have found, unless I run across a sale at my local store. This product arrived faster than I anticipated, as I did get a message about it being backordered. The bottle arrived in great condition too. I definitely recommend purchasing this supplement from this seller.

Using for Hypothyroid Hair Loss
I had my thyroid completely removed in January 2008 and have just recently gotten my TSH value to the place where it needs to be. While hypothyroid, I have been dealing with hair loss and thinning hair. Hair loss is a symptom of hypothyroidism and I had read on several forums that Evening Primrose Oil had helped those with high TSH to regrow hair, thicken it.So far it has really helped my skin out (dryness) and I can say that my hair looks and feels better. Time will tell. I am sticking with it though and will purchase again and continue to take it.
